With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our beloved Terrika Lynne Murray Brown, who left this world on July 10, 2025, in Salem, Oregon.
Born November 16, 1958, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Terrika spent her childhood living with her parents, Eugene Jacob and Nora Jane Busch, on various Marine bases in the USA and Japan. She settled in Salem, Oregon as a teenager and was a proud graduate of South Salem High School.
In 1991 Terrika began a career in Real Estate where she became very successful due to her keen business acumen and dedication. Known for her determination and independence, she was a woman of exceptional skill and knowledge in her profession. In 2008 She became a Real Estate Broker, a Certified Residential Specialist, and opened her own Real Estate Agency which grew to a remarkable 22 agents. She also served as Vice President of BMI Contractors, Inc. and managed a rental property business. Her professional achievements were paralleled only by her contributions to the community, including her service on the board of directors for Salem Academy and her presidency at Croisan Mountain Homeowners Association. Terrika was a devoted member of the First Nazarene Church in Salem, where her faith played a central role in her life. Her passion for life also extended to her hobbies, which included watersports and golf.
Terrika's greatest joy came from her family. She married her beloved husband, David W. Brown, on June 17, 2000, in a ceremony that marked the beginning of a beautiful partnership. Their love story blossomed when they met while volunteering with a youth group at the First Nazarene Church, a testament to their shared values and commitment to helping others.
Together, Terrika and David devoted themselves to loving their family. She is survived by her daughter, Kiersten Burkhardt, and her husband, Mike; her son, Michael Murray, and his wife, Tori; her sister, Tamera Prince, and her husband, Frank; her brother, Gene Busch, and his wife, Faye. Terrika found immense pride and happiness in her granddaughters, Avelyn Burkhardt, Mia Murray, and Lilian Murray, with whom she shared a special bond. Her favorite expression to them was, "I love you more than all the fishies in the sea!" A testament to the depth of her love, this phrase encapsulates the affection she had for her family.
As we remember Terrika, we honor her legacy of perseverance, love, and faith. Terrika was not only a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother but also an inspiring figure in her community. She was fiercely committed to moving forward, even in the face of fear, and she never wavered in her love for God and her family. A Celebration of Life will be held at Illahe Country Club on August 3rd, 2025, at 4:00 PM. Although she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Terrika Lynne Murray Brown will be dearly missed but will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Terrika. Your love and light will continue to shine through your family and friends.
