Tamara Juay Gould

Sep 10, 1936 — Jun 21, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Tamara Juay Gould. Born on September 10, 1936, in the town of Bottineau, North Dakota, Tami graced this world with her presence for nearly ninety remarkable years.

Tami was the daughter of Walter and Effie Peterson, who instilled in her a deep sense of compassion and resilience. She carried these qualities with her throughout her life, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

On June 20, 1959, Tami married Rodney James Gould in a beautiful ceremony in Bottineau. Together, they embarked on a journey of love and partnership that spanned decades until Rodney's passing. Their union was blessed with five children: Peter, Matthew, Erin, Elizabeth, and Thad, as well as three adopted children, Abby, Quy, and Tanner.

Tami is survived by her siblings, Arlan and Peggy Peterson, Christy and Bart Bobbitt, brother in law Vic Pike, and Eric and Susan Peterson; her children, Peter, Matthew, Erin, Thad, Abby, Quy, and Tanner; 23 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Effie Peterson; her beloved husband, Rodney James Gould; her sister, Zola Pike; her daughter, Elizabeth; and her grandson, Andrew.

Tami pursued her passion for nurturing and caring for others by attending the Good Samaritan School of Nursing. Her career as a nurse was a testament to her dedication to the well-being of others. She served at the Oregon State Hospital and the Department of Corrections, where her compassionate care touched countless lives. Alongside her husband, she extended her nurturing spirit by opening her heart and home as a foster parent, providing love and stability to those in need.

A lifelong churchgoer, Tami's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Her sense of community and service was evident in every role she undertook, and her infectious spirit brought hope and comfort to those around her.

Beyond her professional and community endeavors, Tami had a zest for life that was contagious, especially evident when she cheered for her children at their sporting events. She was a talented quilter, creating beautiful pieces that warmed not only bodies but hearts as well. Her love for canning was a testament to her appreciation for life's simple pleasures, preserving memories and flavors for future generations.

Tami enjoyed the outdoors and found great joy in camping trips and the beauty of the valley. She reveled in the changing seasons and appreciated the rain, which symbolized the cycles of life and renewal.

Tami will forever be remembered for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Her laughter was a melody that resonated with all who heard it, and her spirit of encouragement uplifted those around her.

As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we find solace in the legacy of love, kindness, faith, and resilience she leaves behind. Tami Juay Gould will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, friends, and all who were blessed to know and love her.
