Steven Charles Hoefling

Steven C. Hoefling, a husband, cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 4, 2026. Born on May 11, 1949, in Beatrice, Nebraska and raised in Wymore, Nebraska he was the beloved son of Herb and Evelyn Hoefling. Steve's father, Herb, predeceased him, while his mother, Evelyn (Davis) Hoefling, survives him. He is also survived by his brother, Frank Hoefling, and Frank's wife, Becky (Wichman) Hoefling.

Steve's life was a testament to love, dedication, and resilience. On August 23, 1969, he married Sandra (Carpenter) Hoefling. Together, they built a nurturing family environment, welcoming their sons, Aaron and Mark, into their lives. Aaron, along with his wife Heather (Yost) Hoefling, and Mark, with his wife Lisa (Svoboda) Hoefling, were the joys of Steve's life. His legacy continues through his five cherished grandchildren: Ethan (25), Nolan (24), Miles (21), Haley (21), and Tatum (15).

A proud graduate of the University of Nebraska, Steve served his country with honor in the Army National Guard. His professional journey took him through various states, beginning with Rockwell International in Kearney, Nebraska, and eventually leading him to Becton Dickinson, where he retired as Plant Manager in 2004. Along the way he touched the lives of many colleagues and friends in Sulphur Springs, TX , Columbus and Holdrege, Nebraska.

Steve's life was enriched by his passions and interests. He was an avid sports enthusiast who found joy in playing golf, savoring the sun and sand at the beach, and creating culinary delights in the kitchen, especially preparing and cooking meat. He had a deep appreciation for the music of Conway Twitty and Cher, and he reveled in the company of his family, always eager to support and guide them with his wisdom.

Known for his inspiring quotes, Steve would often say things to his family like, "never apologize for your best effort", "Don't lower yourself to their level", "No step for a stepper" and more.

A man of faith, Steve attended Salem Alliance Church in Salem, Oregon, where he found spiritual fulfillment and community. His family takes comfort in knowing that Steve lived "a blessed life," full of love and purpose.

Steve's legacy is one of love, compassion, and unwavering support for his family. He will be fondly remembered as a devoted father and grandfather who consistently expressed his pride in his children and grandchildren.
