Ruth J Finical

It is with heavy hearts yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Ruth Finical. Born on May 4, 1925, in the modest town of Beach Grove, Arkansas, Ruth departed this world peacefully on March 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, after 100 remarkable years.

Ruth was the cherished daughter of Burley B. Pickett and Mary Lou Bohanning. She grew up in a large and loving family, the seventh of eleven children, and she carried their values of kindness and resilience throughout her life. Although she left school after the 11th grade, Ruth later completed her GED in Coos Bay, Oregon, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to personal growth and learning.

In the heart of World War II, on January 8, 1944, Ruth married Elmer in Wagoner, Oklahoma. As a war bride, she embodied the strength and determination of her generation until Elmer's passing. Their union was blessed with two children, Wayne and Sue, who were the pride and joy of Ruth's life.

Ruth's career was one of compassion and service. Most of her working years were spent as a dedicated caregiver in a retirement home and for private clients, where her gentle spirit and generous heart touched many lives. After moving to Salem, Oregon, she extended her nurturing nature by becoming a foster grandparent, providing care and guidance to countless young souls.

A devout member of the Assembly of God Church, Ruth's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found joy and solace in her relationship with Jesus, which she shared with her family and community. Her quiet, modest demeanor belied a fun sense of humor that endeared her to all who knew her.

An ardent creator, Ruth, found great pleasure in sewing and hand quilting. Her artistry was not only a hobby but a legacy, as she crafted countless quilts and handmade clothes for her family. Each stitch was imbued with her love, creating tangible memories for generations.

Ruth was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind her loving son Wayne and his wife Sandy Finical, her cherished daughter Sue and her husband Jeff Harrison, four adoring grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Bill and his wife Jean Pickett, who shares in the legacy of their family's enduring bonds as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth is reunited with her husband Elmer, her grandson Bill Fox, her parents, along with her siblings and many friends who predeceased her.

Though our hearts are heavy with her absence, we are comforted by the indelible mark she left on our lives and the assurance that her gentle soul is at peace. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will forever inspire those who were privileged to know her.
