Ronald Marston Murphy, 89, of Salem, passed away on August 30, 2025 at home with wife and family at his side.
A private graveside service will be held this weekend. Arrangements are by Restlawn Memory Gardens & Funeral Home.
Ron was born in Falls City, Oregon, to Vernon & Mildred Murphy on April 11, 1936. Following High School he served four years in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic and was discharged at the rank of S/Sergeant. After meeting a lovely widow with three preschool children, he married Joyce McBeth on July 22, 1958, at Salt Creek Baptist Church in Salt Creek, Oregon. He adopted the children shortly thereafter. A year later their daughter was born. He had a long & successful career in the Wood Industry,
primarily in Plywood Plant management. Over the years he was involved in church activities, gardening & enjoyed lifelong passions for woodworking, hunting & fishing. He was devoted to his Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon & Mildred Murphy, a
daughter Lesley Joy, a brother Dick, a sister Loyce Stepper, a brother Harold, and a sister Marcella Davidson. Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Joyce Murphy; son, Rodger & wife Hao of Murrieta, California; daughter Carol Baynes & husband Lew of Joseph, Oregon; and daughter Jill & husband Larry Wolske of Salem, Oregon; thirteen Grandchildren; and 29 great-Grandchildren.
Officiant & Pallbearers will be grandsons of Ron.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of your choice. The Ron Murphy family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Gregory Lackides, Dr. Bud Pierce, Bristol Hospice, and Restlawn Memory Gardens & Funeral Home.
