Robert Ray Gulick Sr

November 3, 1940 — September 24, 2025

Robert "Bob" Gulick, Sr. was born on November 3, 1940, in Salem, Oregon, and passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, in Salem.

Born to Estel and Rhoma Gulick, Bob grew up in Everett, Washington, and graduated from Everett High School. Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country faithfully for over 25 years as a Gunner's Mate Guns First Class (GMG1), from January 1959 to July 1984.

While attending Warner Pacific College, Bob met the love of his life, Kathryn "Kathi" Palmer. They were married on June 14, 1963, and together built a life centered on faith, family, and service. They were blessed with two children, Robert Jr. and Nicole.

In addition to his military career, Bob worked at Accu Print West and later ran his own business: Robert Ray & Associates. He then worked for his brother’s trucking company, until he retired in 2019. Even so, his heart remained with the U.S. Navy, where he dedicated most of his working life.

Bob was a longtime member of Holladay Park Church of God and later became devoted to the Tigard Church of God after Holladay Park closed. He had a deep love for Japanese culture, especially its food, and spent time doing missionary work in Japan - a passion he shared with Kathi. He also enjoyed bowling and was well-known for his signature back-handed wave.

Bob will be remembered for his big smile, infectious sense of humor, and unwavering faith. He was deeply committed to his family and took special joy in serving and supporting the youth of his church.

Bob is survived by his children, Robert (Della) Gulick, Jr. and Nicole D. (Joshua) Wilson; his brother, Jim (Myrna) Gulick; brother-in-law, Don Miller; sister-in-law, Sylvia Gulick; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathi Gulick; sister, Evelyn Miller; brother, Willard Gulick; and his parents, Estel and Rhoma Gulick.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Tigard Church of God Youth Ministries at Tigard.cog.org.
