Richard Lawrence Lynn Jr

June 29, 1949 — April 5, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Lawrence Lynn Jr., a beloved son, brother, uncle, and cherished friend, who left this world on April 5, 2025, in Lebanon, Oregon. Richard was born on June 29, 1949, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and he spent his formative years in Great Falls, Montana, where he developed the values of kindness, compassion, and community that would guide him throughout his life.

Richard was the loving son of Richard and Estelle Lynn, who precede him in death. He is survived by his devoted brother, Stephen Lynn, along with an adoring family of nieces and nephews who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. Richard's deep affection for his family was evident in everything he did, and he was a steadfast presence in their lives, providing support, laughter, and unwavering love.

A proud veteran, Richard served with honor in the United States Marine Corps as an E5, followed by an esteemed career in the U.S. Army, where he rose to the rank of E7 over a remarkable total of 24 years of service. His dedication to his country was recognized with numerous honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Veteran Service Medal, and the Army Congressional Medal. Richard's commitment to service extended beyond his military career; he was an active member of the Peoples Church in Salem, Oregon, where he contributed to his community and shared his faith with others.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Richard embraced life with a zest for adventure. He loved the great outdoors, often spending weekends fishing, camping, and boating. Whether he was RV traveling across the country or simply enjoying a day on the water, Richard found joy in nature and the simple pleasures of life. He had a special affection for dogs, and his love of music brought him great happiness, often filling his home with melodies that resonated with his gentle spirit.

Richard's impact on those around him cannot be overstated. He was known for his warmth and kindness, always ready with a smile or a helping hand. His legacy as a loving son, brother, and uncle will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we remember Richard, we are reminded of the profound love he shared and the beautiful life he led.

A funeral service will be held at the Restlawn Funeral Home on May 5th, 2025 at 1pm followed by a graveside service, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Richard's incredible life and the indelible mark he has left on our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to PAVE Paws Assisting Veterans, an organization that reflects Richard's lifelong commitment to helping others.

Though Richard may no longer walk among us, his spirit will live on in the memories we cherish and the love we share. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, dear Richard. You have earned your rest, and your legacy will continue to inspire us all.
