Michael Shidler was born in Kansas City, Kansas, to Cliff and Esther Shidler. Michael moved from New York to Lompoc, California when he was 5 and graduated from Maple High School in 1971. After graduating high school, Michael joined the United States Army and served as an Airborne Ranger in the Army, Company C, 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry unit. After the Military, Michael trained as a reserve police officer.
In 1974 Michael met Jeannine Johnston. Game over, ladies! Upon meeting Jeannine, Michael told himself that he was going to marry her and in December of 1977, they tied the knot in Santa Barbara, California.
Michael and Jeannine shared 47 years of marriage. Together they had 3 children, Kristi, Carol and Michelle, and they had 7 grandchildren, whom all survived Michael. Michael is also survived by his sister Stephanie Dahl of Orangevale, California.
Michael had many hobbies. He loved to read, collect antiques, travel, spend time with his friends and make new ones.
Michael loved sharing stories of his adventures in the military, security and police work. Michael was never a man to run from trouble and was always willing to help in any situation. Michael was a brave and loving man.
He was a devoted Christian, husband, father and friend. He is sorely missed and left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Services will be held at Restlawn Funeral Home, on August 11th at 11am, followed by interment and reception. Please join us and share your stories and memories of Michael.
