Martha Ochse

Martha Reta Ochse
October 4, 1930 – January 16, 2023
Martha Reta Murhammer was born on October 4th , 1930, in Salem , Oregon. She was the
youngest and last surviving member, of eleven brothers and sisters born to Henry and Helena
(Kayser) Murhammer. Martha graduated from Salem High School in 1948.
At age 17 Martha married Howard Robert (Bob) Ochse on June 12th , 1948. Born March 28th ,
1914, Bob passed away February 1st , 2000 after 52 years of marriage.
Martha and Bob traveled the northwest in their motorhome for sight-seeing and fishing
trips…although she would have preferred to stay home most of the time. Martha loved her
home and enjoyed working in the yard until her physical condition made it no longer possible.
Collecting dolls and bells was something Martha enjoyed. She absolutely loved her family and
extended family.
Martha was preceded in death by her youngest son Mark. She is survived by her son, Henry
Matthew (Dutch) Ochse of Dundee, OR, grandson, Matthew of Vernonia, OR; grandson Robert
of Tualatin, OR; grandson Joel of Newberg, OR; great granddaughters, Nora, Maren and Leyna
of Vernonia, OR; great granddaughter Hannah and great grandson Welkin of Tualatin.
Martha asked for an intimate graveside gathering of close family members. Services were held
January 20 th , 2023 at Rest Lawn Memorial Garden in Salem, OR.
