It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Loyal Peterson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on December 22, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on August 23, 1932, in Egeland, North Dakota, Loyal's life was a testament to his unwavering faith, dedication to family, and commitment to serving others.
Loyal was the cherished son of Ebert and Inez Peterson, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. He grew up in a nurturing environment that fostered his love for community and faith. After completing his education at Woodburn High School and Lakewood Park Bible School, Loyal embarked on a life that would be marked by a commitment to both his family and his faith.
On August 16, 1953, Loyal married his soulmate, Arlyce Watterud, after meeting her in Bible school. Their bond was a shining example of love and devotion, and together they built a beautiful family. Loyal is survived by his beloved wife, Arlyce, their daughter, Gayle Reichelt (Reggie), their son, Doyle Peterson, along with six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, all of whom were immensely proud to call him family.
Loyal was not just a family man; he was a pillar in his community. He owned and operated Superior Quality Construction, a successful construction company that he later passed down to his son, Doyle, and grandson, Justin. His work ethic and dedication were evident not only in his business but also in his service to the church. A lifelong member of Peoples Church and Faith Christian Church in Woodburn, Oregon, Loyal served as a deacon for over 40 years, sharing his wisdom and compassion with countless individuals. He also held the position of president of the Men's Full Gospel Ministry and was a member of the Board of Regents at Trinity College. Loyal's commitment to his faith extended beyond the church walls as he participated in mission trips to various countries, sharing his love and dedication to God with others across the globe.
Loyal had a servant's heart, and he lived up to his name, "Loyal," by consistently demonstrating loyalty to his family and faith in God. He was a man of character, known for his kindness, humility, and unwavering spirit. In his leisure time, Loyal loved to travel and spend quality moments with his family, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Although Loyal has departed from this earthly realm, he will be remembered as a faithful man dedicated to God and his family. His legacy of love, service, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Kingdom Builders at People's Church, continuing Loyal's legacy of service and faith.
