It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jessica Marie Smith, a beloved daughter, sister, and mother, who departed this world on November 14, 2025, in Salem, Oregon. Born in Dallas, Oregon, on October 18, 1988, Jessica's bright spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

Jessica was the cherished daughter of Tammy May and Guy Hesse. She is survived by her loving daughter, Alexis Marie Bert, her sister, Jamie Frick, and her father, Guy Hesse. Her daughter was her world, and she dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother to Lexi.

Growing up, Jessica was full of energy and adventure and in middle school she earned recognition as an MVP in volleyball. She attended Perrydale High School, where she enjoyed cheerleading, and she later graduated from Harrisburg High School. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Chemeketa Community College, where she earned an Associate of Arts degree, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Western Oregon University.

A natural caregiver, Jessica found her calling in working with children. For several years, she devoted herself to being a preschool teacher and worked in multiple childcare centers, nurturing the minds and hearts of young ones. Her love for kids was evident in everything she did, and she made a lasting impact on the families she touched.

Jessica's adventurous spirit loved the outdoors, and she had a profound appreciation for animals. She found joy in spending time with friends, drawing, and making beautiful jewelry. Jessica was fierce, strong, and brave-qualities that defined her character and how she faced life's challenges.

In the spring of 2026, a small family gathering will take place to commemorate Jessica and spread her ashes, providing an opportunity for those who loved her to remember the joyous moments they shared.

In the hearts of those she leaves behind, Jessica Marie Smith will be forever missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of love, strength, and bravery will continue to inspire, and her spirit will live on through her beloved daughter, Lexi.
