It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rev. George Allen Blain, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on August 26, 2025, in McMinnville, Oregon. Born in Eugene, Oregon, on January 23, 1939, George lived a life full of love, faith, and compassion, leaving behind an enduring legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
George was the son of Frank and Ethel Blain, who instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest son, Mark Allen Blain. George is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sandra K. Blain; his son Bryon Edward Blain; his daughter Tawnie Roberds (Randi); five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense joy and pride for him.
George's educational journey began in the local schools of Eugene, where he attended Eugene Elementary and Eugene High School. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Vennard Bible College in Oskaloosa, Iowa, where he excelled academically, earning recognition on the president's list while balancing the responsibilities of being a dedicated father to three young children. He furthered his theological education at Western Evangelical Seminary in Portland, equipping himself to fulfill his calling.
In 1968, George felt a profound call to preach, which marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life. Prior to this, he worked at Edmund Furniture in Eugene as a talented decorator. His passion for service and his deep faith led him to become a steadfast member of the Evangelical Church in Eugene, Oregon, where he touched countless lives with his warm sermons and unwavering compassion. Ending his 33 year long commitment to the word of God retiring from Church of Nazarene in Lincoln City, Oregon.
Beyond his professional and spiritual endeavors, George was a man of many interests. He had a deep love for working on his corvettes and took great pride in remolding twelve houses over the years. A devoted family man, he cherished the moments spent with his loved ones, often singing together and creating memories that would last a lifetime. His favorite Bible verse, 1 Corinthians 9:16 "For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for I am under obligation to do so. And it is a "woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!", encapsulated his life's work and purpose, reflecting his commitment to the Gospel and his desire to help others.
George and Sandra's love story began in 1960 when they were married on June 26 in Eugene, Oregon, after meeting at the Evangelical Church. Their bond grew stronger through shared experiences, including joyful days spent water skiing with his brother, creating a lifetime of cherished memories.
As we gather to celebrate George's incredible life, we invite friends and family to join us for a memorial service at the Junction City Church-Nazarene on September 13, 2025, at 10:30 AM.
George Allen Blain will be remembered as a kind, warm, and solid individual, known for his compassion and deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
