Gene William Austin

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gene William Austin on December 16, 2025, at the age of 82. Gene left this world peacefully in Dallas, Oregon, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was born on April 5, 1943, in Seattle, Washington, to Clare and Ellen Austin, who lovingly nurtured his adventurous spirit and passion for life.

Gene spent his formative years in Carnation, Washington, Medford, Oregon, and Beaverton, Oregon. He was a proud graduate of Sunset High School and honed his technical skills at GM Trade School, paving the way for a successful career as a self-employed mechanic. Gene specialized in four-speed service and repair, earning a reputation in the community for his exceptional talent and dedication to his craft. His hands were always grease-stained, but his heart was clean, reflecting his commitment to helping others, especially the underdog.

In 1964, Gene married in Beaverton, Oregon, after meeting his beloved spouse in high school. Although they later divorced, they raised two wonderful sons together, Jeffrey Lee Austin and Kevin Gene Austin, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and strong work ethic. Gene's love for his family was boundless, and he took immense pride in teaching them mechanical skills, imparting not just knowledge, but life lessons that will be cherished for generations.

Gene was a unique and interesting person, known for his big heart and unwavering support for those in need. His hobbies included an enduring passion for vintage hot rods, a reflection of his love for mechanics and the beauty of classic cars. Gene was also a devout Christian, finding strength and solace in his faith, which guided him throughout his life.

As a testament to his caring nature, Gene also expressed a wish for donations to be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, ensuring that he could contribute to the well-being of children in need even after his passing.

Though Gene's life was marked by challenges, he faced them all with grace and a smile. Gene William Austin is survived by his beloved sons, Jeffrey and Kevin, who will forever remember their father's lessons of love, hard work, and compassion. His sister Cherrie Dutton and her three children Angie, Katie and Jamie of Seattle Washington.

While Gene has left this earthly realm, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends. His legacy of kindness and passion for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
