Edward James Zwaschka (Jim)
Jim, 90 years of age, passed on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Dallas Retirement Village, Dallas Oregon. He was the husband of Sharon Zwaschka who passed on August 2, 2018 after sharing a marriage of 68 years.
Born in Bellingham, Washington, he was the son of E. J. and Gertrude Zwaschka. Jim graduated from Salem High School in 1948. Jim retired from Reddaway Trucking Company.
Jim is survived by his children, Holli, Garry (Starla), Larry (Jon), and his beloved miniature schnauzer Hildy.
Jim was an active member of the Masonic Kingwood Lodge #204 since 1969.
During retirement, Jim and Sharon spent many years enjoying the winter months at their home in Arizona. During the summer and fall, they enjoyed their boat, fishing and crabbing on the Oregon Coast while staying in their motorhome.
In the spring of 2018, Jim sold his house and moved to a lovely apartment at The Lodge located at Dallas Retirement Village (DRV). Here he was close to Sharon, who was a resident at the time. While living at The Lodge, Jim and Hildy cultivated many close and enduring friendships with the residents and staff. Jim and Hildy will be sorely missed by those who knew him. Hildy will be moving to Palm Springs to be with Larry and his miniature schnauzer Kaiser.
Jim’s life will be celebrated by a private family gathering, and no services are planned. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to DRV and Salem Health are suggested.
Restlawn Funeral Home is caring for the family.
