Dora Jean Morlan, 82, of Aumsville, Oregon, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025.
Dora was born in Maywood, California, April 21, 1943 to Ace D. Johnson and Dorothy Miller (Lambert). She was the second of three children.
She married Ron Morlan March 13, 1964 in Reno, Nevada. They had three sons; Roderick, Richmond, and Gregory. They later moved to Aumsville to raise their family.
Dora was a hand in many trades, but her love for horses and racing was so immense she could recall every horse she bred, owned, and raced; of course you wouldn't catch any of her horses without her favorite color, turquoise.
After retiring from racing, she enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and family, listening to her Dad play fiddle, crafting, and gardening. She had quite the green thumb and a passion for flowers, which brought her love of hummingbirds.
Dora is survived by her husband, Ron Morlan; three children, Rod (Nichole), Rich, Greg (Michelle); 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; her sister, Joyce; and her brother, Ace. A grandson proceeded her in death in 1995.
A private funeral session will be held followed by a Celebration of Life:
September 26, 2025 ~ 1:30 pm - 3:30pm
West Hill Vineyard
4785 Salem Dallas Hwy NW
Salem, OR 97304
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to HART, Horses Adaptive Riding and Therapy in Dora's name. HART is a non-profit organization that helps people with special needs through equine-assisted therapy. Dora had a great passion and love for horses; this is a wonderful way to honor her memory.
