Daniel Wade Phillips

Jan 31, 1966 — Jul 19, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel Wade Phillips, affectionately known to many as "Diamond Dan." Born on January 31, 1966, in Salem, Oregon, Daniel departed this world on July 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unforgettable stories.

Daniel was the beloved son of Dan Phillips and Nancy Wong, who predeceased him. He is survived by his loving siblings: brothers Lowell Leathers, Bill Phillips, and John Phillips, and his sister Gina Wong. Though he and Kathleen Phillips went their separate ways, they shared cherished memories from their marriage on September 27, 1997, at the Broetje House, a union that began with a dance at the Red Lion.

A man of many talents and interests, Daniel dedicated twelve years of his life to Anodizing Inc. before embarking on a remarkable 30-year career at Costco. Earning the endearing nickname "Diamond Dan," he became a legendary figure at the store, selling an impressive 2.5 million dollars' worth of jewelry. His passion for his work was recognized through numerous Costco awards and his unforgettable presence at Morning Star.

Daniel had a zest for life that was evident in his diverse hobbies. He was an avid skier, a master at bargain hunting and Goodwill shopping, and found tranquility in his garden. His love for people was boundless; he was a talker at heart, always ready to share a story or lend an ear. Daniel had a gift for remembering the faces and names of those who crossed his path, especially at Costco, where he made countless connections.

His compassion went beyond words. Daniel was known for his selfless acts of kindness, often helping those in need and providing gift cards for food to homeless individuals. His caring nature and generosity left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.

A service to celebrate Daniel's life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Morning Star Church, located at 4775 27th Ave SE, Salem, OR 97302. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Daniel are warmly invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Daniel's memory to The United Way, an organization close to his heart.

Daniel Wade Phillips will be forever remembered for his laughter, his love for life, and his unwavering commitment to making the world a brighter place for everyone he met.
