Cynthia Jane Currin

Apr 16, 1950 — Jun 16, 2026

Cynthia Jane Currin, daughter of Richard Lester Currin and Alice Bowman Crossley, passed away comfortably in her home with family by her side after living with cancer for several years.

She had a long, productive career in workforce development and grant acquisition and management. A graduate of Linfield University, she managed numerous teams and helped build and run major programs at the Mid-Willamette Jobs Council, Chemeketa Community College, and Linn-Benton Community College.

Cynthia was a friend of Bill W. for over 47 years. She helped and was helped by a great many people of the fellowship in achieving the Promises.

She had a bright mind and was a member of MENSA. She loved words and reading and was an excellent writer. Her lively conversations were sometimes spiced up by a fitting quote she'd liked and memorized (and she always knew their sources, too!). Witty and fun, Cynthia had a wonderful laugh that anyone who knew her could pick out instantly in a crowd. She was an appreciator of classical music and the arts, and she had a fine artistic eye herself; her stunning cards always awed and delighted the people she sent them to, and she could make the most mundane objects into a strikingly elegant arrangement. A few of her favorite memories were traveling to Italy to sing with her church choir and swimming across the Columbia River.

Cynthia filled her heart with her many dear friends and family members. She was a loving sister to her four siblings, aunt to her twelve nieces and nephews, and cousin to her extended family. She always kept up with their lives and news, as well as with her treasured friends and their families.

Cynthia will be sorely missed by her family and friends, but she will be a blessing to hold in our memories and our hearts.

A memorial gathering will be at Restlawn Funeral Home, 201 Oak Grove Rd. NW, Salem, Oregon, on July 17th, 2026 at 12pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Recovery Outreach Community Center in Salem, Oregon (roccsalem.org 503-393-4273)
