In loving memory of Carolyn Joann Pacheco, who passed away on February 10, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on July 16, 1939, in Joplin, Missouri, Carolyn was the cherished daughter of Joseph E. Dickens and Christine McClary. Her early years were enriched by the vibrant landscapes of Tennessee, where she grew up surrounded by the warmth of her family.
Carolyn was predeceased by her beloved brother, Tony Dickens, and half-brother, John Hillard Jr., whose memories she held dear throughout her life. She is survived by her loving sister, Hazel Mayberry; brother, Larry Dickens; half-brothers, Roger Hillard, Jerry Hillard and Earle Wilson Dickens; and half-sister, Betty Jo Page. Her legacy continues through her devoted children, Ray C. Van Nest, James A. Van Nest, and Rhonda Parent DiLorenzo, who will forever cherish the unconditional love and support she showered upon them.
As a housewife, Carolyn was the heart of her family, creating a nurturing home filled with laughter and love. Her gentle, motherly spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she became a maternal figure to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her laughter was a symphony of joy, and she found immense happiness in the simple pleasures of life, teaching all who knew her to appreciate the beauty in every moment.
Carolyn's home was a sanctuary for her three grandchildren, Cody, Ray Jr., and Nate, and her great-grandchild, Skyler. Her bond with her son, James, was particularly special; she was his lifelong companion, and together they shared countless cherished memories.
An admirer of nature, Carolyn found tranquility in the presence of hummingbirds, whose delicate beauty mirrored her own gentle and caring nature. Her giving spirit and ability to find joy in the little things left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
As we say goodbye to Carolyn, we remember her not just for the life she lived, but for the love she gave. Her legacy of kindness and warmth will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Carolyn by embracing the small joys in life and sharing laughter with those you love.
May Carolyn Joann Pacheco rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty and love she so generously shared in her lifetime.
