Carla Ward

Carla Ward (McCamey) was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved member of her family and community. For more than 30 years, she dedicated herself to the Salem-Keizer School District, where her commitment, kindness, and service touched the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues.

Carla was the beloved wife of 47 years to her husband Jim Ward and the proud mother of Camey Gilliland and Jimmy Ward. She is also survived by her three sisters, her grandchildren Jace and Cayden Gilliland and Nora and Hazel Ward, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Family was at the center of Carla's life. She loved her children deeply and was immensely proud of the people they became and the lives they built. She celebrated their accomplishments and supported their dreams, always taking joy in watching them grow and succeed. Jimmy went on to play for the Seattle Sounders and works in finance. Camey has built several successful businesses and is now pursuing her dream of building a farm in Idaho.

Carla found special joy in being a grandmother. She was a loving and attentive presence in her grandchildren's lives. She cared about the little things and listened to their stories. She celebrated their accomplishments while making sure they always knew how deeply they were loved. The time she shared with them created treasured memories that will remain with them throughout their lives.

Carla was also an active part of Northwest United Women's Soccer for much of her adult life. The friendships, community, and time spent around the sport became an important part of her life and added to the many connections she made over the years.

After more than three decades of dedicated service to the Salem-Keizer School District, Carla leaves behind a legacy of caring, commitment, friendship, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by her husband, sisters, children, grandchildren, extended family, friends, former colleagues, soccer friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In her final days at home, Carla was surrounded by the people who loved her most. Her family gathered around her, filling those final days with a profound sense of love, comfort, and togetherness. She was held by the same love she had so generously given throughout her life.

Though Carla is no longer with us, the love she gave so freely will continue through her family, her friends, and the many lives she touched. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
