Angelyn Mae Bylsma

November 7, 1935 — March 24, 2025

Angelyn "Angie" Mae Bylsma, 89, passed away on March 24, 2025, and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Angie was born at home on November 7, 1935 in Artesia, California to George and Anne Meines.

In 1953, Angie met Richard "Dick" Bylsma at the Bellflower roller skating rink on "Dutch Night". They were married on March 5, 1954 and celebrated 62 years together. They were blessed with 3 children: Debbie, Rick and David.

In 1963, Dick, Angie and family relocated to Salem. They became charter members of Sunnyslope Christian Reformed Church. She made the church a welcome place for others and faithfully served in various ministries over the years. Dick and Angie attended Bible Study Fellowship for 7 years. They cherished their time praying and studying God's Word together. Angie's deep love for God was the foundation of her life.

Angie was employed with U.S. Bank for 28 years, retiring in 1991. Dick and Angie enjoyed their retirement years together visiting family and traveling by train.

Angie lived life with a passionate spirit, guided by her love for faith, family and fun. Her quick wit and infectious sense of humor touched many, leaving behind many fond memories.

Angie will be remembered for many things: her love for family and friends, her generosity and hospitality, her sense of humor and making people laugh, her hand made ceramic Christmas trees, sending notes and cards of encouragement, writing poems for special occasions, selling and gifting AVON products, and her lemon and almond bars.

Angie will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children Debbie (David) Imig, Rick (Linda) Bylsma, 6 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and sister Arenda Meines. She is preceded in death by her husband Dick, son David Bylsma, parents George and Anne, sisters Phyllis Jezequel, Esther Griede, Della Weller, and granddaughter Jennifer (Imig) Wells.

The family would like to thank the staff at Caring Homes Plus and Willamette Vital Health for all the special care and support they gave to Angie over the last few years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Sunnyslope Christian Reformed Church, 197 Hrubetz Rd SE, Salem, Oregon on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00am.
